My Philosophy:

All of us follow our own philosophies which determine our individuality and who we are as people. My philosophy, like many others, is composed of many different aspects; the first part being optimism and kindness. Many people do not realize the effect of kindness and how essential it is to all of our lives. I believe that every human should be kind to others because our world could not operate without it, and it is simply the right thing to do. Beside this is optimism. Believing in others or yourself no matter what is motivational and can often times lead to success.
Another component to my philosophy is human equality and being yourself. Men should have the same rights as women, no matter the location. Every human should have the right to an education, freedom of speech, and respect. In terms of being yourself, if everyone on Earth was the same, life would be extremely boring, and we would have no way to express ourselves. God intended humans to be different and with their own imperfections; thus creating a world abundant with individuality and world contribution.
The last part of my philosophy is about setting high goals and working as hard as possible to achieve them. This is popularly phrased as “reach for the stars.” Many of us want to accomplish similar things in life, for example; going to a good college, running a successful business, making a lot of money, and raising a healthy family. But in order to have these wonderful things, you have to work towards them and never give up.

Artist's Statement:

My collage is about women’s rights and each of their perspectives of the world. I chose to emphasize this point because I personally believe that no matter where you are in the world, every woman should be entitled to education and respect. The idea came to me when I encountered the picture of the women in burkas along with the quote, “I pray my daughters have a life like mine.” Seeing this made me think about my life, and how I am able to voice my own opinion and receive an excellent education. Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky. All over the world, women are born with the possibility to do as they please, but, in many places, this possibility is taken from them. Underneath the oppression, these women are just like us, and there is no reason why they should not receive the same rights. One day, I would like to help make their lives a better place; because there is no doubt that the freedom of these women is worth fighting for.
