Artist statement:  My collage represents my philosophy, which is, “If there is darkness all around you, you must find hope within yourself.” My philosophy means that if your in a time of war, civil uprising or just in a bad time in general, you have to dive within yourself to fix your own problems. You can’t find a therapist to help you because they can’t help you.  Some of the images that were used in this were of times of war, death and destruction, but towards the middle of the collage it becomes happier and filled with peace.  The peace is described with handshakes from nations filled with hatred; a dove carrying a branch, the United Nations symbol and a dove is a universal symbol of peace and a microphone from news broadcast, because a microphone is a symbol for spreading information, a mews broadcast is also a symbol for spreading information, because that is what it does, it spreads information to it’s people, however it wants to. The corporation the news is being run from was show you the information any way they want to, mainly for there demographic, which is where the “evil corporation” and “stick it to the man” images come into play. This collage describes my philosophy to its full extent.

Philosophy:My philosophy is when you have despair around you; you have to look into yourself to find the hope in the world. This is my philosophy because it is what I believe in. Soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq can use this philosophy during hard times in battle, as in when a comrade falls in action or people are dying around you. The philosophy is dark, but it is meant for peace and the good in people.
