“Its all about where
your minds at” Said number one surfer in the world, Kelly Slater. Throughout
the years of my life especially this year, I learned that whatever is going on
in your head, effects everything you do. My passion is surfing, it has been my
whole life and it will be for the rest of it. Catching any wave big or small is
an adrenalin rush and I love it. When I do a really good turn, there’s no other
feeling like it. There’s no way to describe the feeling of success when you
complete an awesome turn or maneuver, it is the best feeling in the world. When
I’m surfing I forget everything else that is going on in my life. All the pain
goes away and I’m happiest when I’m in the water with my friends. Music also
helps take the stress away. I like many different types of music but I don’t
think I could live without hip hop. Although I want to make a career out of
surfing, I try not to make the sport only about contests. Contests are great to
go to, and it feels great when you win, but they can also be very stressful and
take away a lot of the fun in surfing. “Live life to its fullest” is also a
quote I live by. If your doing something in your life that is boring and you
don’t enjoy, then what’s the point? Live life to its fullest, respect everyone
around you, and surf. Surf, eat, sleep, repeat, because life’s better in a
bikini!
My
collage is a visual statement about my philosophy, things I enjoy, and what I
believe in. In my work, what mostly catches the eye is the surfing part. Since
surfing is and always will be the biggest part of my life, I made it the main
theme in my collage. I also added a few of my favorite rappers because without
them my music would be a lot different. The Jackass sign and a few of the guys
were added because life’s all about keeping it exiting. And last but not least
I added the Costa Rican flag. Although I grew up in Southampton, New York, I
will always have an equal amount of love and respect for Nosara, Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is the most beautiful country in the world and is my all time
favorite place to surf and overall live. Life’s better in a bikini!
