Philosophy
One of the tenets of my philosophy
is pessimism. While many think this is a depressing outlook on life, I have a
different view of it. You see, I think of pessimism in these terms, if whatever
you are predicting does go badly then at least you are prepared for it, however
if things go well then you don’t need to be prepared and you will be pleasantly
surprised.
Artist Statement
The other tenet of my philosophy is a firm belief in
the preservation and advancement of human knowledge in all ways and this is what i based my collage off of. I think that
this is one of the most important things one could do with one’s life. Humanity
would be nothing without what we have created for ourselves. If you think about
it, we have none of the evolutionary advantages of other species, such as fur
and claws. All that we have is our brains and if we don’t use those we are
nothing but walking meals. These remarkable innovations we have made allow us
to inhabit every environment we encounter, from fertile lands to deserts where
it is almost impossible to survive, from the freezing vacuum of space to the
endless fathoms of the ocean. We have created monolithic cities to last eons of
our habitation. We have achieved magnificent things in the realms of
literature, imagery, and technology with geniuses creating works that will
endure until the end of time, all of this to merely fend off our mortality and
the devastating harshness of nature. Yet we rarely think that we are merely a
tiny planet spinning off in the corner of an arm of an immense galaxy in a
colossal universe filled with uncountable galaxies filled with uncountable
stars and uncountable planets, and we’re not even sure this is the only one of
these gargantuan universes. Even with all of this out there we still treat our
daily lives as if they are significant to this endless sea of spinning worlds,
and this is what makes us human.
