Personal Philosophy: 

My personal Philosophy is to live your life to the fullest and to not get caught up in little things like the judgment of other people and expectations people set for you, I believe that you cannot change certain things so it is best to go with the flow and not try to change things that are out of you reach. I believe that since it is impossible to change the past, you shouldn’t spent your time dwelling on it, instead you should live in the moment and make the future what you want it to be. My personal philosophy is based on living your life to the fullest and understanding that your happiness is up to you, people will always talk but you have to put yourself higher than them and not let it affect your life.  

Artist Statement:

In my collage, the background is of the ocean, and of crashing waves, I chose this because the ocean represents something that you have no control over, and the only option is to go with the flow and live in the moment. Inside one of the crashing waves I put a compass, which represents the direction your life is going, you can choose the general direction you want to go, but you cannot choose everything about your future, some things are inevitable and that is why I placed it inside a wave, it represent something you do not have control over, and under the compass I put a fire, because it is also something that you have little control over. Living in the past is something I do not believe in, however, I do believe that if you are not happy with your life, at any point you can decide to start a new beginning. I represented that idea with a hand throwing glitter, and inside of the glitter it says, “A New Beginning.” I believe that it is not good to get caught up in what others think of you, Self-confidence is the most important, and everyone is beautiful in their own way. I represent that in my collage in many ways, there is a picture of a girl with a sheet over her face, this girl represents people who try and cover up who there are to fit in and to be accepted by others. On top of this girl it says, “flawless has many faces.” This is saying that you don’t have to look a certain way to be considered beautiful. To represent confidence there is also a picture of a little cat, looking in the mirror and seeing a lion, and a picture of a little kid dressed up as a superhero. Life goes by quickly, I believe it is best to fill your life with memories, take risks, and remember that at the end of the day the only person you can make happy is yourself. I represented that in my collage with a picture of people sky diving with text next to it that says, “made for living.” Also, I put a clock, because time moves quickly and we should remember to not get caught up stressing on the little things.
