Lina Heidt - Collage

Artist Statement - STOP

I have chosen the four-page collage, because I couldn’t express my ideas on one big screen. That’s because all my thoughts are going in different directions. I have two mainly topics, that minds my collage. Both represent how my thinking in future should look like. My first two pages have a directly relation to each other and need themselves to be understand what they are saying. The daily world has parts what are full of fear and unhappiness and the daily human know that for sure. But the sad thing is that they all don’t really care about it or even pay any attention to it. This fact influences my philosophy and my collage tries to convoy the world, that we have to make a kind of “stop” and start thinking about how we can better the world for everybody. I chosen walls and fences as background for the first side, because they are representing borders of thinking and that’s the way our momentary world acts. For the second page I made blue pictures and photos of the ocean as the background, because the color blue, especially the ocean, expresses freedom for me and we should have a world with more freedom and peace. One famous person, that inspired me, is Andy Warhol, because I have been very impressed from his way of thinking about the world.

My other main topic is much more personal. It shows the dream of MY future, meanwhile the fist two pages are more related to my personal imagination of the world’s future. My wish is, that I could have a creative job, full of craziness and freakiness. I am not completely sure what I want to do exactly in my future, but I guess my way could be related to photography, because for me it seems as something, that never gets boring. I believe, that if I will have a kind of artistic job, I also want to live in an environment, what is affecting and surprising to get new ideas. One place that influences me in the world is New York. For me it is a city, full of impression, like a small world in the real world. It is almost unbelievable what you can find in it and which differences exists between the certain quarters. That’s the reason for the Empire State Building in my collage. The last page is about money. In my opinion people who are too fixated on money, like seeing the world with “money eyes”, are naïve. That’s why there is a little boy in the background. My aim is to forget the stress about making money and just focus on how I can make it. It also should represent, that many people get blind of the real and more important things in the world, because they are just focus on money.
