Philosophical Collage

Philosophical Paragraph

For my collage I focused on the idea of power. I did this through the Fleur-de-lis, a universal symbol of royalty, most commonly used in coats of arms. The images and colors I choose for this project contradict each other in a way that it leads your eye to seeing the bigger picture first before you focus in to the underlying meaning. The photos shaded in orange represent fantasy/dreams; the photos shaded blue represent reality. I purposely put the photos of reality inside the Fleur-de-lis to show that these are the things one must focus on in order to reach your goals. Even though the easy way would be to focus on what could be, the orange. I put fog on the top of the photo to remind people that even though there is a separation between these two ideas the line are blurred so that things can overflow into each other. In life you need to experience everything, even though it may be a waste of time, it will benefit you in one way or another. When you first look at the collage, since the pictures are the same color as the main photo, your eyes automatically the symbol of power, but then the longer you look you realizes the detail, and what the content of the piece is.

Key Points:
*Fluer-de-lis (Blue) –
·      Grim Reaper – in order to keep yourself sane you need to make peace with death
·      Books/Apple/War/Donkey/Globe – you should always stay educated in everything in order to know how to act yourself
·      Gavel – you are the judge of your own acts
*Fantasy/Dreams (Orange) –
·      Yolo/Stress/Anxiety Man – these are all beliefs that you use to make excuses for your actions, excuses are stupid, you did what you did that should be reason enough
·      Man In Globe/WOW Logo – this is where the line blurs, its fine to be in your own world and live a fantasy for a little because then you are able to find what you really want in life and find yourself, but also interaction is a huge part of figuring out what you like and what you hate
·      Cartoons – fiction pulls us in to make us think that there’s a possibility that life can be easier and way cooler, but it’s not; of course out of these dreams you can get ideas, but you need to remember reality will always be there in the way of everything
