Artist statement: As nature, we are born as our true and authentic selves. With the passage of time, as we age and experience the outside world, the influence of others sometimes inspires evolution. These experiences can also cause one to live for a time in a way that is untrue to our natural state. I believe that when we are children, we are our true selves because we don’t really care what others thing and how others judge us. But as we get older these things can become important to us and we can leave out true selves being. I believe it is important to always stay true and authentic to you. Much like the influence of the moon on the ocean tide, and the development of man on our shores, the beach reflects the power of our authentic nature to withstand the tides of experience, and continue as oneself. That is why I took the background picture at the beach. Trial and Error: After i took the background picture, i had to look through my baby pictures to find one that i thought would look good layered on top. After i picked a few that i liked, i had to put separately lay them on top of my background picture in photoshop, then i put all the pictures next to each other to see which one i thought was most effective. Once i chose this one, i played around with the coloring until i came to the desision that the black and white was the best for this picture.
