Artist Statement:

I believe in the little things. This picture was taken one summer at my old house. I had just gotten my ears pierced, and I thought it was the best thing in the entire world. While this seems simple and meaningless, I think as people get older, the act of being satisfied becomes harder and harder to come by because we are constantly looking for something better, regardless of the greatness that’s right in front of us. This picture captures exactly what I was feeling: the center of attention and extraordinarily happy. As I’ve gotten older, the smaller things that make me happy have turned into the people I surround myself with, my pets, being home, etc. Regardless of what they are, we must never forget the joy in the little things.

Trial and Error:

I think the hardest part for me was choosing a picture. I really hate getting photographed, so I chose to use a previous one that I liked. Another difficulty that I had was coming up with a philosophy... I have so many that it was really hard to narrow down until I found a picture to base it off of.
