Self Portrait

Self Portrait

My philosophy is that you need to look inside yourself to find the truth and the good, and what is right and wrong. It is saying that you don’t have to listen to what others think about you. The most important thing is what you think about yourself. This is symbolized by everything that is true is in my stomach and in color; while everything else behind me is blurred, confusing, and in black and white. In my stomach I chose images of nature and worldly images to represent things that are real, stable, and beautiful. Each image in my stomach also represents certain qualities that humans should have.

Giraffes In Sunset: Are there to represent love, caring, and compassion. In photo the mother is with her children looking after them in the desert. This symbolizes that the mother loves them and is looking after them.

Elephant With Butterfly Ears: The elephant is there to repent kindness and gentleness. Since elephants are so large they have to always be gentile and kind in order not to break anything, or hurt anyone else. The reason the elephant has butterfly wings as its ears is because, while elephants are stable, butterflies are spontaneous and friendly; both qualities that a person should have.

Water: The rivers in the stomach are to represent things that are always moving and starting fresh. Water also is very strong and when moving all together at once is unstoppable. This is a quality in that a person should have, once they set their mind to go something they should be unstoppable until they do it.

City: The buildings are there to represent how great humans can accomplish things. Skyscrapers are huge and architectural geniuses. This is showing how humans come together to create something that used to be known as the impossible. Imagination and cooperation are qualities that were used to create these buildings.

Trial and Error:

-Difficult to do make-up
-Hard to choose which photo I wanted
-Windy
