1. Statement
The
value I hold is that to be faithful to myself.
It is hard to achieve sometimes, because the faith is from the bottom
from your heart not from your religion or someone else. When something comes
that it won’t push you and won’t punish you, it becomes much harder to keep the way you usually are.
In China, we believe in an old saying: everyone was born with a kind heart and
the unique blessing, and all you have to do is to keep the innocence, rather than fix or heal the damage.
The first one of
my presentation is the theme of “stay alive”, like the same song from Bee Gees suggests,
which is also the main goal of one’ s life. Because you won’t have any chance
to reach goals like fortune and love without this achievement of “staying
alive”. And the question is how do you stay alive, eating healthy or keeping
exercise? The answer from me is to be
faithful to yourself during your whole life. The baby who was seeking for
something means the search of lifestyle and faith of your life. Seeking is the
great symbols of staying alive, because everyone in the world should seek for
something in order to make lives more meaningful, or we will become the walking
dead man. Since babies mean the hope and youth, I think the search should be
started at our age. The flower in the middle means every tiny thing, which can
make you happy. Since the living creatures like flowers and trees also mean the
hope and growth, I chose them as the symbols of happiness. The sign of
conversation in the corner shows a part of staying alive, talking. To stay
alive, you have to have something, which contacts you and the world, like
communication with others and your judgment of things in your life. The little train in the left edge means
another aspect of staying alive. People should walk and travel all the world,
as the saying that” meet half of yourself on the road”, traveling is a good way
to find your soul, because you never know what and where is the best part of
life until you really touch it.
The
second part of my collages is called” thinking is free”. Thinking is the most beautiful
part of one’s life since no one can steal your thoughts, which also the way to distinguish the difference between humans
and the other living creatures. We can think the meaning of many lusters in our
lives instead shallow, ordinary things like livelihoods. Thinking about things
like the contact between humans and nature, and humanities subjects is the
power to raise the quality of our lives and create the improvement of the
society. The budges I used are the symbols of candidates of the United States
Presidents. Those represented the freedom of voting and the consideration,
which is the thinking part, of the country’s future. The picture of Chinese
Chairman, Mao, shows the preference of myself, which means thinking the
political position of China. I put the national flag of USA and the chairman’s
picture together showing I am interested the differences and commons of those
two countries. I used the pictures of a bike and a plane to show that thinking
is your transportation that can bring your mind to anywhere, and thinking is
also the compass to help you find the right way and not be lost. The camera
means that thinking is the document of every piece of one’s life. The gun represents
that thinking is your weapon. Thought is the most powerful weapon to protect
you from harms especially the mental damage, and fight back properly. Kurt Vonnegut’s
Manifesto: “how embarrassing to
be human“ where I found via Internet, which I love a lot, shows another style
of thinking. Thinking could be unique and you should never be shameful about
your thoughts. Being different is not a shameful thing at all, instead, that’s
why thinking makes you so beautiful.
The third one is
called “contribution”, which is used to represent the part of my philosophy. Being faithful to yourself,
means you have to do something for others. The picture of Thomas Vermaelen, the
captain of Arsenal, means the responsibility of contributing. Being a captain means you have to sacrifice
yourself and combine your team as a union. In my views, being a leader means
contribution more than privileges; that’s why leadership is one the vital
standards to judge the person. I used
the crown and the audience to represent the contribution. When you were chosen
to be a king or president, your have to keep you words to your people.
Contributing is the process, which has to be mutual, there’s no unilateral
contribution or demand. Your final goal is to seek for the sense of
accomplishment or being respectful during contributing.
The next part of my collage is called”
enjoyment”, which is an important element of our daily life. I used kids on the bottom to represent the
theory that children are the footstones of any society; teaching them to be
faithful and being faithful to them is being faithful to the society. Education
is the cheapest national guarantee. Making the kids know the true meaning of
having fun and enjoy every latter moment in their lives, is our tasks today to
guarantee the better future of the entire human beings. The way the country
teaches the kids, in a way, decide the nation’s characters. Enjoyment also
means a lot to an individual; it is the way to avoid people being machine.
Making everything in order is a habit; make be sure to there’s any spare time
for enjoying. Learning how to enjoy your life, then you can create your own.
In general, being faithful is not always a
serious topic; instead, keeping the way you used to be, which is simple but
tough, is the proper method, and it can also lead you into a wonderful realm.
