Self Portrait Project

Artist's Statement: I believe that everyone should be proud of their past and positive about their future. In the end, we should be able to look back upon our lives and feel gratified. My portrait begins with the figure in the middle, which is me as a seven year old, looking into a large fish tank; and among the fish are visions of my past and future. The left picture is me as a four year old and I am looking into my future, which is me as a seven year old. The figure in the middle, however, is also looking into her future, which is a picture of me in the present. I purposefully made my face and eyes look out towards the viewer because it symbolizes how I am currently unaware of my future and the next step in my existence. Together, these images compose the beginning phase of my life, and I hope that it will continue to be as fulfilling as it has always been.
